Cancer hog saw his shadow, at least 10 more weeks of chemo

Ex saw his oncologist today, and has decided to begin a new course of treatment, prescribed 1x per week. Something called Topotecan.

He seems to be getting along ok, now that radiation sickness has abated.

We are trying to get ready for all the guests we are expecting for Thanksgiving, which is also the Ex's birthday. He's doing laundry -- bless his heart. I'm cleaning the kitchen. Well, I'm not, because I'm writing this, but I will be very soon.

Praying for safe travels for everyone. God, just put that protective bubble around all our loved ones. We don't need any more heartbreak this year.

If you've come by to see what's here, I thank you very much for stopping by. Stay tuned for more adventures of Ex_Turned_Caregiver, in Exville for the holidays!

  2. So now for the comment I was trying to send!! Glad that you and Ex were able to use your expert knowledge to get sons' data off of the bad 'puter!
Hope the Topotecan regimen isn't too tough. Don't have any experience with it, so no suggestions. But once a week sounds doable!
Don't knock yourself out with housework, ETC....you don't want to be too tired to enjoy hubbys' arrival.
Happy early Thanksgiving to you all, and Happy early Birthday to the Ex. God bless you all.

  4. Topotecan is the standard second line for SCLC. Mike didn't do well on it, but most do. I'm really glad EX is willing to keep fighting.

  5. Seems like this is our fourth line, and I think she said, it would be the last, but, then again -- you never know.

  6. I didn't remember that he had had so many lines. What all has he had? Mike is on his 6th line, well, actually doing line 3 again...

  7. Cisplatin/V16 every weekday for 4 weeks, then Irinotecan/CPT11 (instead of VP16) 3 times a week/3 weeks per month, the Taxol with something I can't read (achue? acliue? ciclizie? Can't find anything close in the cancer drugs list. And now this topotecan stuff, once a week -- open-ended. She said at least 10 weeks.

All this stuff runs together in my mind after a while, but everytime he gets a new coure, I make them write it out, and I put it in my Ex folder. Not my ex-folder, my EX folder -- you know what I mean! :-)
